Secure your privacy while using iPhone and Android Apps

Today everyone around us is fan of touchscreen mobile phones. Everybody wants to buy a touchscreen phone whether its Android phone or Apple Iphone. In last few years these 2 big sharks have removed all other mobile technologies from the market. Apple’s phone is quite popular now along with Samsung phones. Android phones are becoming cheaper and cheaper day by day. Lots of free applications are available for both Android phones and Apple iPhones. In youth, apps specially related to free sms and callings are quite popular. These apps offers most of the times Free SMS or Free Calling features where on both sides same application is installed. And even offer to check which of your friends have installed the same app by accessing your phone book. Do you know how really these apps works?

These kinds of apps which offer you search your friends by accessing your phone book, actually these apps upload your complete contacts data to their servers, where they compare the data and let you know the results. Knowingly or unknowingly consumers are uploading the contacts to remote servers which uses the  data for commercial purposes and who knows how secure these servers are. Your contact data can be used for telemarketing and surveys which may or may not create problems. I came across an application which accesses your phone book , upload the phone book to their server and then make the contact public on their servers. Anybody can search for a mobile number or Name in specific location. Now think of the situation, your phone may have contacts of mothers, sisters, girl friends or other friends. Some body can search their contact details, because you have installed that app which uploads the phone book to internet.
So beware of such applications. Install and use them very carefully. Do not allow the applications to access phone’s data without thinking. None of the companies neither Mobile Company (apple, samsung etc.) nor operating system company (apple, google etc) will take responsibility of privacy breach.
