Install Windows 8 without cd-key / activation code

Hi ! This time Microsoft has launched Windows 8, A new metro look for the new upcoming PC / devices.
Specially designed for touch screen devices. Microsoft provided BETA and Release Candidates versions for public. Everybody could download, test and feel WINDOWS 8. But now WINDOWS 8 is released officially as RETAIL and PRO versions.

Now WINDOWS 8 can be purchased from the official site. But now you must have to enter the Activation Code or Key to install Windows 8 on your machine. But I was able to find out a small workaround using which anybody can install WINDOWS 8 without entering the KEY during installation process. You can simply skip entering the KEY for WINDOWS 8.

For this, you have to add a new file to your installation media. Just open NOTEPAD. Type the following as it is:

[EditionID]

[Channel]
Retail

[VL]
0

Save this file as “ei.cfg” and save it into SOURCES folder of windows 8 setup media. Then you can create a bootable DVD or USB using UltraISO or IMGBURN.

Installing Android on iPhone

Its really amazing to change the default operating system of iPhone i.e. iOS. I tried it my self on my iPhone. And now I will share the way I did it.

My iPhone was having iOS 5.1.1 which is the latest one. So, first thing I had to do is to downgrade the operating system of iPhone to iOS 4.1.
Actually the software pack available to install Android on iPhone supports upto iOS 4.1, 4.2. That is why I had to downgrade the iOS. It was very tedious task for me as I was doing it for the first time.
You can also find the steps to downgrade very easily using Google. Its an art to downgrade iOS.

After downgrading you must need to jailbreak your iphone means you to get rid of all the restrictions imposed by Apple for your iPhone. Its not difficult to jailbreak your iphone. Many programs are available on the internet and the best part is all of them are free. Just use google the best software to suit your iphone model and ios version. Do not pay anything to your mobile vendors to jailbreak your iphone.

After Jailbreaking, you have to use Cydia Program. Jailbreaking moves around Cydia. It is similar to AppStore by Apple. Search Cydia for Bootlace. You have to install it on your iphone. In case you can not find Bootlace in Cydia. Then you have to add repository manually. In order to do this, you’ll need to launch Cydia from the homescreen, tap on the Manage button, select Sources, then tap Edit, then Add. The repository you’ll need to add is repo.neonkoala.co.uk. Tap Add Source, let Cydia work its magic, and then tap on your newly added repository and install Bootlace.

Then exit Cydia. Bootlace icon will be available on HomeScreen. launch Bootlace. If Bootlace isn’t on your homescreen after you exitCydia, restart your iPhone and it should be there. Then just launch Bootlace, and let it download and patch the kernel. When it’s done, tap on Reboot and wait for your phone to reboot.

Once your iphone is rebooted. Now you again have to launch Bootlace. Launch Bootlace again, tap the OpeniBoot button, and tap Install, then Continue. OpeniBoot will download and install.

When your OpeniBoot is installed. tap the iDroid button, tap Install, OK, and then wait. iDroid—which is essentially the Android OS customized for your iPhone—will download and install. This will take a while, so be patient. Make sure during download process, your iphone shouldn’t get switched off. If required, connect charger to your iphone.

After downloading is completed, Android will be installed on your iphone. To start using Android, you have to launch Bootlace again. launch Bootlace and you will see a new option QuickBoot. Tap on QuickBoot. It will reboot your iphone into Android. Now you can play with Android.

Only problem I found with Android was power management. It completely drained out the 100% battery in just 2 hours. So its just fun to install Android on iphone but practically it can be used on regular basis.

To remove android, I connected iphone to itunes, I restored the iphone using itunes. Restoring from itunes, will remove Android completely and Jailbreak also and will bring you to actual iOS which is not Jailbroken.

Prepare Bootable Pen Drive for Windows and Linux

Now you can make boot-able pen drive for almost every Windows or Linux edition in very easy way. I will discuss Windows and Linux, one by one.

Lets talk about Windows First.
If you want to prepare boot-able pen drive, then first thing you need is boot-able ISO file of the operating system. then one of the following software, whichever fits in your need.

1. WinToFlash
One of the good softwares available on the internet. It’s free but its adware. But beside this, it easily create bootable pen drive for variety of Microsoft operating systems.

It can perform the following functions:

  • Transfer Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008/7/8 Setup to a USB drive
  • Transfer WinPE (BartPE based on Windows XP/2003, WinPE based on Windows Vista/2008/7 and so on) to a USB drive

Installing Red Hat Fedora 16 without Internet / Network

Al last, I am able to find how to install Red Hat Fedora 16 without Internet Connection or Network Connection. It was very tedious task to find the solution. Tried many solutions, but none of them was working.
So, at last go through few forums, I was able to get the solution which I am going to share here with you.

You need to download the DVD of latest Fedora edition i.e Fedora 16.
Then you need Fedora Live USB Creator latest edition.
A pendrive of 4GB. Personally I will suggest use 8 GB Pen drive.
Use your LIVE USB Creator and to transfer the ISO to Pen drive.
Transferring may take some times one hour also.
After successful transfer, reboot your system
Make changes in BIOS to boot from USB.
Once changes made in BIOS, your system will boot from Pen Drive.
System will show you 2 options :
1. Install / Upgrade Fedora 16
2. Troubleshooting.

Select first option and do not press ENTER. Press TAB on your key board.
It will show you command prompt with command already written.
Do not change / remove here.

Just enter SPACE from keyboard and type the following as it is:
repo=hd:LABEL=LIVE:/

and then press enter. Now you will not be asked to connect to internet or network during the installation. You can enjoy installation without internet from your pen drive.

Make sure on PACKAGE SELECTION SCREEN, just select “installation repo”. If you select any other option also, that will require internet access.
I hope this may help many people who do not have internet but want to use FEDORA 16.

THis tutorial may help those also who are trying to install from DVD. in that case they don’t need LIVE USB Creator. Just burn the DVD with ISO. Insert the DVD and boot from the DVD. Then same options will be followed as mentioned above.
